Practice Session to Dial In Your Accuracy
Accuracy Challenge [75 minutes]
Mindset
"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle." -Abraham Lincoln
Let's get to the hustle without haste this week.
Full Swing Warm Up [15 minutes]
Every great player has a consistent warm up routine that they use ahead of a round. Let's dial that in during practice ahead of getting to it today.
A suggested warm up pattern is outlined below:
- 5 50% Pitching Wedges
- 5 Full Pitching Wedges - aim to specific target that varies with each shot
- 5 Full 8 Irons - aim to specific target that varies with each shot
- 5 Full 5 Irons - aim to specific target that varies with each shot
- 3 Fairway Woods - aim to a specific 15 yard fairway
- 3 Drivers - aim to a specific 15 yard fairway
- 3 First Tee Shots - hit whatever club you will play off the first tee for that day visualizing the shot you must play on the range
Accuracy Challenge [50 minutes]
The main element of today's practice session is a 50 minute challenge. We will do this for three consecutive weeks so record your results.
You have 50 balls to try to get through the following stages. You have to complete a stage in order to progress to the next stage (good pressure simulation!) How many balls is going to take you to complete the challenge?
- 2 consecutive drivers into 25-yard wide fairway
- 2 consecutive 3-woods into 25-yard wide fairway
- 2 consecutive hybrids or long irons into 25-yard wide fairway
- 2 consecutive shots onto 100 yard green (approximately 20 yards in diameter)
- 2 consecutive shots onto 150 yard green (approximately 20 yards in diameter)
- 2 consecutive shots onto 200 yard green (approximately 20 yards in diameter)
If you get through it, figure out how far you can get into it for a second round with the remainder of your 50 total balls.
Weak Link Work [10 minutes]
What was the weak link in the accuracy challenge from today?
To complete today's session, hit 15 shots to try to improve your weak link for next week's challenge.
