Putting Practice Session for You to Try Out
Try out this practice session to dial in your putter next time you hit the putting green.
Flat Stick Day [66 minutes]
Mindset
"I smile at obstacles."
-Tiger Woods.
What do you do when you have obstacles on the course or in life?
Today we will focus all of our attention on the practice putting green. For better or for worse, this is where we will likely play a majority of our shots. Thus, we need to emphasize it in our practice.
Circle Drill [10 minutes]
Warm up with the circle drill today.
Place 3 balls in a line at 2', 3' and 4' away from the hole. Repeat this pattern at 45 degree increments.
How many of the 24 putts can you make?
15-20-25 Footers [30 minutes]
Let's work on some mid-range efforts today. Complete the following circuit with 3 balls:
1 putt from 15 feet
1 putt from 20 feet
1 putt from 25 feet
Finish out each putt.
Complete this 10 times for a total of 30 putts.
Can you have more makes than 3 putts?
Lag Putting Drill [20 minutes]
Let's get our lag putting dialed in.
With 10 balls, create 3 stations with 3 balls each at 40', 50' and 60' from the hole and work on lagging the ball to the hole. Put the final ball at the 50' range to finish the drill and home in your speed.
Complete this routine 3 times for a total of 30 putts.
Tiger's Gate Drill [6 minutes]
We do this a lot but we still are not sure it is enough!
From 3' away from the hole, place two tees just wider than the head of your putter creating a gate for your putter to swing through.
Start by hitting 12 putts with your right hand only (lefties should do this left handed), then 6 putts with both hands.
