Best All Around 1-Hour Golf Practice Session
Trying to get dialed in for an upcoming golf match with a 1-hour golf practice session?
A classic 1-hour golf practice session structure is a "20 / 20 / 20" session. This structure covers all areas of the game in just 60 minutes:
- 20 minutes of putting
- 20 minutes of wedge work
- 20 minutes of range work
Circle Drill (10 Minutes)
Place 3 balls in a line at 2', 3' and 4' away from the hole. Repeat this pattern at 45 degree increments. How many of the 24 putts can you make?
6 x 9 x 12 x 25 Footers (10 Minutes)
Using 3 balls, hit the following putts:
- 3x 6 footers (breaking left to right)
- 3x 9 footers (breaking left to right)
- 3x 12 footers (breaking left to right)
- 3x 25 footers (breaking left to right)
- 3x 6 footers (breaking right to left)
- 3x 9 footers (breaking right to left)
- 3x 12 footers (breaking right to left)
- 3x 25 footers (breaking right to left)
Chipping Practice (10 Minutes)
Hit shots out of the rough from the following distances:
- 5x 10 yard shots
- 5x 15 yard shots
- 5x 20 yard shots
- 5x 25 yard shots
Make sure the lies are random to simulate what you are going to see out on the course.
Pitching Practice (10 Minutes)
Hit shots out of the fairway from the following distances:
- 5x 20 yard shots
- 5x 30 yard shots
- 5x 40 yard shots
- 5x 50 yard shots
For bonus points, try to vary the height on the shots from each distance.
Full Wedge Work (10 Minutes)
Hit shots on the range from the following distances:
- 5x 80 yard shots
- 5x 90 yard shots
- 5x 100 yard shots
- 5x 110 yard shots
Try to be precise with your distances. Distance control from this range is key to scoring.
Iron Practice (5 Minutes)
- 5x 8 irons
- 5x 5 irons
Driver Practice (5 Minutes)
Pick a very small target out in the range to hit drivers to. Hit 10 drivers to that target. How many yards to average being off from that target?
