Sample Practice Session: Saucy Wedges

The vast majority of our golf shots on the course are going to be from within 100 yards. From this distance, both accuracy and distance management are critical to improving your golf score. Let's spend some time today dialing both from 100 yards and in.
Saucy Wedges Practice Session [50 min]
Wedge Warm Up [15 min]
Rather than a full warm up today, let's just warm up the wedges given they will be the focal point of our day:
- 3 Chip Lob Wedges (or most lofted wedge)
- 3 Full Lob Wedges
- 3 80% Sand Wedges (or second most lofted wedge)
- 3 Full Sand Wedges
- 3 80% Gap Wedges (or third most lofted wedge / club)
- 3 Full Gap Wedges
10x10 Approach Challenge [35 min]
The vast majority of your shots on the golf course will be from 100 yards and in. Thus, we should spend more of our time dialing these shots in during our practice routine.
Hit 5 shots from each of the following distances:
- 10
- 20
- 30
- 40
- 50
- 60
- 70
- 80
- 90
- 100
Pick a target in the range and focus on trying to carry it a very specific distance. If your practice area does not have great targets, utilize an alignment stick, towel or tennis ball to indicate the 10 yard increment. Or go Tiger style and hit an initial ball into the range and then try to hit it repeatedly.
(For bonus points, if you have access to rough on your driving range, hit the last two shots out of the rough for each interval. We spend far too much time practicing out of perfect conditions!)
